Paste 2007
Last Friday an excellent Paste’06 seminar drew to a close in Limerick, Ireland. The delegates (almost 200 from 22 countries) had enjoyed a well-organised event with technical and social programmes of equal stature. The three days of presentations were divided into four sessions covering rheology and thickening, surface disposal, mine backfill and transport issues. A feature in IM June will report in more detail on the event.
Next year, the Australian Centre for Geomechanics (ACG) will bring the International Seminar on Paste and Thickened Tailings (Paste’07) back to Perth, Western Australia (March 13-15). As this year, it will explore the latest advances in the preparation, transportation and deposition of paste and thickened tailings (P&TT) that will be reinforced by current case studies. This seminar will also address the important part that P&TT plays in incremental rehabilitation and its impact on mine closure goals.
Abstracts for the meeting must be submitted by August 7, 2006 and, if accepted, papers are due by October 9.. Contact the ACG for further information. Telephone +61 8 6488 3300 or email acg@acg.uwa.edu.au. The ACG can also advise on obtaining this year’s proceedings volume.
