Stewart Group promotes Chris Walker to Deputy Managing Director

Stewart Group, a leading global provider of inspection and analysis services to the precious metals, minerals, ores, concentrates, solid fuels and recycling scrap industries, has announced the appointment of Chris Walker as Deputy Managing Director of the Inspection and Analysis Division. This promotion is the latest step in a long line of business developments at Stewart Group, which began with a private equity backed MBO in 2006, sustained investment in company infrastructure, and a complete business rebrand in early 2009, to Stewart Group.
He joined the company in 1997 as an international operations co-ordinator and has held a number of roles within the UK company. Walker has also been seconded to provide support and assistance to other parts of the Group across the world. He has gained extensive hands-on experience of international operations in the company’s core markets and has most recently held the positions of Alex Stewart Assayers Ltd UK Commercial Manager and Global Business Manager. His new role will see him take over the day-to-day management responsibility for all of Stewart Group’s commercial inspection and analysis activities.

John Notman-Watt, Managing Director at Stewart Group commented: “We are delighted with the continued progress of Chris at Stewart Group. He has been integral to the transformation of the business since 2007 and the MBO, and his experience and knowledge of the business is second to none. When we made the announcement internally, the staff were extremely pleased with the appointment, and that we promoted from within, which is testament to the quality and culture that now exists in the business.”

Walker comments: “Despite the impact of the economy on the commodity markets these are exciting times at Stewart Group. I am looking forward to the challenges that the new position will bring, and to playing a key role in ensuring the continued delivery of high quality inspection and analysis services, as we look to strengthen our global presence and market position.”

Stewart Group says it will be announcing further new developments in the very near future as it expands its international presence and service offering.
