Sandvik unveils new products in Brazil

At the M&T expo in Sao Paulo, Brazil in early June Sandvik Mining and Construction brought two new products to Brazil, which will “amplify its added-value solutions portfolio for the construction and mining markets.” It also reported that despite the economic crisis that affected all the economic sectors in Brazil Sandvik Mining and Construction closed last year with a sales growth of 20% compared to 2007. Mining and Construction Manager Victor Becattini expects 2009 to also see positive results.

One of its new Brazilian offerings is the QJ 330 mobile crushing and screening model. Integrating the mobile crushing and screening Sandvik lines, the machine was developed to operate in a variety of markets including mining. It has a vibrating grid with a kick diversion of the lower sieve crusher, jaw crusher, apf hydraulic adjustment, hydrostatic command, a large interspace under the equipment and waste extractor in the carrier.

According to Becattini the great advantage of the new QJ 330 is its mobility, which makes the crushing process fast and efficient. He says that without the necessity of “a physical structure in the service location operation costs [can be reduced].” According to Becattini, the mobile machine has an ability to work efficiently with different kinds of materials, which makes the QJ 330 a strong potential product, with “excellent cost benefits.”

Sandvik also launched in Brazil a component line for conveyor belt systems, which come from its new manufacturing facilities in the city of Vespasiano. This new line includes the following equipment:

  • HV 100 rolls- a complete series of light, medium and heavy load transport rolls. The HV line includes a conformed roll, HV150, for heavy load transport, which reduces the vibration and noise level at high speeds. This results in a longer roller working life and a reduction in the energy spending compared to conventional rolls
  • HV300 series rollers and bridge – an extended range of racks, which stand up to the most demanding and varied conditions. It also has special rollers for load and return, in addition to the impact ones, which were designed for the loading points
  • HP series drums – used for light, medium and heavy loads transportation, which can take weights up to 3,000 kN. Exhaustively tested and with low maintenance, the Sandvik drums are able to operate under extreme conditions
  • HB series belt cleaners – The line has cleaners for any application, primary and secondary, until it reaches the belt turners and scrappers.

According to Becattini, the Sandvik conveyor components can be used on surface and underground and have become an integral part of the company. Becattini: “In the mining market [alone], Brazil has nowadays around 2 million rolls working. From this total, at least 10% are replaced yearly, Therefore, this is a very promising market and Sandvik has tools for all needs.”

Sandvik Mining and Construction view the M&T Expo 2009 as one of the most important events in the Latin American mining market. Whilst at the exhibition, the company displayed many other solutions, like the CH 660 – a large conical crusher, the CV177 – vertical shaft impact crusher, and also hydraulic hammers. In addition, the company demonstrated its after-sales line and services with samples of abrasion materials for crushers (manganese), as well as a line of drills.

“It is a great event that will congregate all of the players in the construction and mining markets. It [is] an excellent opportunity to strengthen relationships with customers and partners, as well as to generate new businesses,” analyses Becattini.
