New generation survey system combines the latest total stations, GNSS receivers, controllers and onboard software

As International Mining prepares an article on surveying and GPS for the November issue, the news from Leica is the Viva that combines the latest state-of-the-art technologies into an unrivalled portfolio of total stations, GNSS receivers, controllers and onboard software. Encompassing innovative, feature rich functionality with a new, modern and ergonomic design, Leica Viva is easier and more intuitive to use than any of its predecessors, whilst maintaining speed and precision.

The new Leica GS10 and GS15 can be used for all GNSS tasks and set-ups for GNSS surveying and construction, may it be all-on-the-pole or backpack rover, mounted on a vehicle,  RTK field base station and long term monitoring sensor. From completely integrated to totally modular solutions, Viva GNSS provides a system for all tasks.  Leica Viva also provides a complete range of GNSS and TPS solutions. With the unique SmartStation and the versatile SmartPole fewer set ups are required, fewer control points are needed and flexibility and productivity is maximised.

Leica says the “Viva TPS combines the world’s best total station sensors: angles, distances, drives and the patented automated prism search, creating the fastest total station in its class. Leica Viva TPS is equipped with Leica Geosystems’ state-of-the-art PinPoint EDM. Users benefit from the most reliable and accurate EDM delivering the optimal balance of range, beam visibility, laser dot size and measurement time.”

The Leica CS10 and CS15 are new rugged field controllers that can be used for both GNSS measurements and efficient one-person surveying with total stations. Both have a full VGA colour touch screen display. Viva controllers allow an easy equipment setup with the unique ‘Snap&Go’ connection system to start work immediately. Long-range, secure and fast wireless connectivity to total stations and GNSS are now supported by the new Leica intenna technology. Leica intenna introduces a world’s first by fully integrating the total station communication antenna into the controller housing.

The Leica Viva controllers integrate a 2 Mpixel camera for convenient field documentation and support a wide range of data storage and transfer capabilities such as wireless LAN, USB, Bluetooth wireless technology and CF/SD-cards.

The new Leica SmartWorx Viva onboard software provides easy and intuitive operation. Users benefit from wizards to easily connect the controller to Leica Viva total stations and to setup a total station guided by clear graphics and step-by-step descriptions to minimise training. Users can decide between the basic version Leica SmartWorx Viva LT with selected functionality or Leica SmartWorx Viva with enhanced functionality. Customers, who initially decide to purchase SmartWorx Viva LT can update the software at any time to the full functionality of SmartWorx Viva. Increasingly users want to immediately send a finished job back to the office or need data quickly from the office. SmartWorx Viva allows users to easily transfer files to and from the office using the Field to Office connection.

Leica MyWorld is the new web portal for instant 24/7 access to product information and knowledge.
