International Council on Mining & Metals calls for joint action on climate change

During 2009 ICMM’s Council of CEOs, which consists of 19 Chief Executive Officers of many of the world’s largest mining and metals companies, undertook a review of the climate change issue. The result is a policy on climate change, approved by the ICMM Council in October 2009. The ICMM recognises that comprehensive and sustained global action is required to reduce the scale of human-induced climate change and to adapt to its impact.

The policy can be downloaded at http://www.icmm.com/content/emailtracker/linktracker.jsp?emailId=54860&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.icmm.com%2Fdocument%2F759. To complement the new policy, the forthcoming issue of ICMM’s Good Practice newsletter will be devoted to climate change. It includes an overview of how ICMM members are responding to the climate change challenge.
