ABB says it has met Minera Esperanza’s high expectations of a sustainable and innovative copper-gold mine. It has successfully completed the commissioning of three gearless mill drive (GMD) systems for the Esperanza project of Antofagasta Minerals in Chile. The GMD systems power a 40′, 22.4 MW SAG mill and two 27′, 18.6 MW ball mills.
